The Yobe State House of Assembly has expedited the consideration of a bill aimed at amending the Hisbah Commission law.
Presented by the executive arm of government, the bill successfully passed its second reading on Tuesday following extensive deliberations by House members.
During the debate on the bill, the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Nasiru Hassan Yusuf, highlighted that the Hisbah bill, previously assented to by the governor, had been returned to the House for specific amendments. He emphasized that the proposed amendments would delineate the functions of the executive chairman and the state Commandant of the Hisbah Commission.
Urging fellow members to support the bill, the Majority Leader underscored its significance.
Chaired by the Speaker of the House, Rt Hon. Chiroma Buba Mashio, the sitting saw the bill referred to the House standing committee on Justice and Religious Affairs for further legislative scrutiny.
