NNPC Limited cautions motorists and the general public against engaging in panic buying of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol.
In a statement released by Olufemi Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd., the corporation highlights significant improvements in the supply and distribution of petrol nationwide. Soneye notes that NNPC officials have diligently monitored filling stations in various states, including Lagos and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), resulting in noticeable reductions in queues.
Assuring the public of sustained progress, Soneye emphasizes that NNPC currently maintains a stock of over 1.5 billion litres of PMS, equivalent to more than 30 days of sufficiency. He also mentions collaborative efforts with downstream agencies, such as the Nigeran Midstream & Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), sector labor unions, and security agencies, to address hoarding and other irregularities.
This proactive approach, according to Soneye, underscores NNPC’s dedication to ensuring a consistent petrol supply nationwide while preventing potential disruptions in the fuel distribution chain.
Earlier, NNPC addressed concerns surrounding the scarcity of Premium Motor Spirit, attributing the situation in certain regions to logistical challenges that have since been resolved.
