Lagos officials cleanup banned styrofoam in markets. Officials from the Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources took action on Thursday by confiscating styrofoam food packs from various markets across different local government areas of the state.
Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, revealed this through photos and a video shared on his official handle on Friday. In his caption, he stated, “Enforcement agencies from the Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources have intensified efforts to remove banned styrofoam food packs from markets across the state.”
He further detailed the operations, saying, “Yesterday, the environmental enforcement team conducted raids in shops spanning Ikorodu, Mosan Okunola, Badagry, Amuwo Odofin, Ojo, Somolu, Eti-Ota East LCDA, Eti-Osa, and other areas of the state.”
Wahab emphasized that all confiscated items would undergo incineration. “All seized items have been transported to Marini TLS in Bolade, Oshodi, for disposal by burning,” he added. “We urge all Lagosians to refrain from using, distributing, or selling banned styrofoam packs anywhere in the state.”
