Nigerian comedian Real Warri Pikin recently opened up about her struggle with almost regretting sharing her weight loss journey due to the negative feedback she received. She disclosed that her weight had caused various health issues, prompting her to undergo gastric sleeve surgery.
In an interview with Ghanaian journalist Doreen Avio on JoyNews, Real Warri Pikin revealed that her health challenges led to frequent hospitalizations, impacting her ability to perform and support herself. She shared the difficulty of turning down comedic events and even returning payments she had received.
Reflecting on the criticism she faced after discussing her surgery experience, the comedian-turned-actress admitted to regretting the adverse comments and questioning her decision to disclose further details about her transformation.
she wrote:
“I almost regretted coming out to say my truth, because people do not accept change. They are stuck with the old version of you because your old version makes them happy, and comfortable. They are plus size, they’re big, they can relate and it makes them happy. So, when you change they feel like you’ve betrayed them, they can’t accept change,”
