The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged the 27 members of the State House of Assembly aligned with Minister Nyesom Wike to initiate impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminlayi Fubara without delay.
Speaking at a press briefing in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Tony Okocha, the State APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, emphasized that Governor Fubara’s failure to implement the eight-point peace agreement signed in Abuja, including his refusal to respect President Bola Tinubu, necessitates urgent action.
Okocha asserted, “It is unacceptable for a state as pivotal as Rivers State to be led by incompetence. Our directive to the Assembly is to promptly initiate impeachment proceedings against the Governor.”
He added, “Should they fail to act, we will enforce party discipline by invoking the relevant constitutional provisions.”
