In response to the ongoing fuel scarcity in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, the state government held a meeting on Wednesday with leaders from both major and independent oil marketing companies. Following the discussions, Special Adviser to the State Governor on Special Duties, Gani Muhammed, and State Commissioner for Energy, Rasaq Obe, briefed reporters on the outcomes, stating that the marketers have committed to taking proactive measures to alleviate the scarcity.
TVC News correspondent Ayodeji Moradeyo highlighted that Akure residents have been grappling with fuel shortages for over a week, leading to long queues at petrol stations as people struggle to obtain fuel. Many individuals now spend hours waiting in line for petrol.
Recognizing the severity of the situation, the state government organized the meeting with oil marketers to address the challenges. After hearing their concerns, government representatives acknowledged the hardship faced by residents and emphasized the need for swift action.
Special Adviser Gani Muhammed affirmed the marketers’ commitment to resolving the issue, a sentiment echoed by State Commissioner Rasaq Obe.
