Workers’ Day. The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared May 1st as a public holiday. The proclamation was made by Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, as conveyed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Aishetu Ndayako, in a statement released on Tuesday.
“The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, 1st May 2024, as a Public Holiday to commemorate this year’s Workers’ Day Celebration,” Aishetu stated, quoting the minister.
She further highlighted the minister’s emphasis on the importance of excellence, efficiency, and equity across all labor sectors.
“In line with this year’s theme, focusing on ensuring safety and health at work in a changing climate, I wish to emphasize the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to prioritizing the safety and well-being of all citizens,” the minister emphasized.
The statement continued, “Let me reaffirm Mr. President’s commitment to providing a conducive environment for work, where every worker can thrive and contribute meaningfully to national development.”
“The Minister also urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in supporting the present administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda as he extends his wishes for a happy celebration to all workers,” concluded the statement.
