Armed police officers have shut down the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State. The affected secretariat is operated by the faction led by Austin Agada, located along JS Tarka Way opposite the Railway Market.
Makurdi hosts two separate party secretariats, with the other belonging to Benjamin Omakolo’s faction along Kashim Ibrahim Way.
Daniel Ihomun, the Publicity Secretary of the Agada faction, suggested that the closure might be linked to the planned inauguration of a zoning committee for the upcoming local government elections. Efforts to reach the state Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, for clarification were unsuccessful.
The Agada faction had formed a zoning committee comprising 21 members from the state’s three senatorial districts, slated for inauguration on Friday. However, the Omakolo faction swiftly issued a statement through its Publicity Secretary, Terseer Agber, urging party members and the public to disregard the zoning committee appointed by the Agada faction.
