Rivers State Governor, Mr. Siminalayi Fubara, has asserted that those instigating crises in the state lack integrity. He emphasized that individuals with genuine integrity and character are firmly aligned with his administration.
Governor Fubara emphasized the importance of acknowledging what is right in life and resisting negative influences to remain true to one’s principles. He pointed out that some individuals who claim to possess integrity and character actually lack these qualities. He cited former Governor of Rivers State, Dr. Peter Odili, as a notable figure with admirable character.
The governor made these remarks over the weekend while addressing the people of Ndoni Town in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area. He spoke shortly after inaugurating the Comprehensive Primary Health Centre in the community, which was donated by the PAMO Educational Foundation founded by Dr. Odili. The health center was donated to the State Government for the benefit of the people.
Expressing his gratitude for being part of the event, Governor Fubara thanked God for the gift of life and praised the people of Ndoni for their support of Dr. Odili, who has brought significant recognition to the community.
He reiterated the importance of standing by what is right, regardless of the number of supporters, and expressed his satisfaction with standing alongside Dr. Odili.
“We are delighted to have his support. Even his mere presence seems to unsettle some, prompting them to engage in various media appearances. Why? It’s because those who truly matter, those who possess the integrity they claim, are aligned with us. That’s the reality.
“So, if we have one person of integrity and character, isn’t that better than having a thousand with questionable character? We are proud to stand alongside him.”
Governor Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that all necessary resources are provided to ensure the optimal functioning of the health center, further supporting the people of Ndoni.
“We’ve gathered here to celebrate our esteemed elder. It’s a celebration of giving back to society. When God blesses you, there comes a time to share those blessings with the community.
“We are proud to support what I consider the genuine ‘I’ agenda project.”
Reflecting on Dr. Odili’s contribution, Governor Fubara remarked, “This wasn’t done during his time in office when he could have used public funds for such projects. Now, as a private citizen, he has chosen to support his people. This is the appropriate moment to say ‘I’ did this.
“I want to thank our community for continuing to support Dr. Odili. He is a remarkable individual, the epitome of integrity and character. Only those who truly grasp the essence of greatness can appreciate his actions.”
Expanding on the concept of greatness, Governor Fubara added, “True greatness isn’t measured by wealth but by the value you place on yourself, the self-respect you uphold. Even in the face of insults, you hold your head high, knowing your own worth. So, let’s continue to stand firm. With your support, we will fulfill the objectives of governance.”
