Controversial crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, is currently housed alongside male inmates at the Ikoyi Custodial Centre, following his six-month prison sentence for naira abuse. Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos handed down the verdict on Friday, April 12, 2024, as a deterrent to others engaging in similar offenses.
According to an official at the facility who spoke anonymously to PUNCH Metro, Bobrisky underwent the same admission procedures as other inmates. Despite public declarations about gender identity, the examination revealed no physical alterations to his gender or genital organs, confirming his biological features as male.
Assigned to a designated cell and bed space like any other inmate, Bobrisky adheres to the facility’s rules and routines. He attends classes, meals, and other activities without preferential treatment. The official emphasized that Bobrisky is subject to the same regulations and consequences as his fellow inmates, with no special protection against abuse.
Regarding claims of protection from abuse, the official clarified that the custodial center strictly prohibits any form of mistreatment among inmates. Homosexuality is forbidden, and any attempt to violate this rule would result in legal consequences.
When approached for comment, Rotimi Oladokun, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Command of the NCS, declined to provide any information on the matter.
