Military have neutralized 188 terrorists. In operations conducted across Northern regions last week, military forces eliminated 188 terrorists and apprehended 330 individuals. Additionally, they successfully rescued 133 kidnapped persons. Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, disclosed these accomplishments in a statement on Friday.
He emphasized that these recent achievements have bolstered the troops‘ position in the ongoing battle against terrorism. The statement underscored the military’s commitment to decisively confront terrorists, enhance security, and safeguard citizens. Throughout the week, the troops demonstrated significant force, neutralizing 188 terrorists, arresting 330 suspects, and rescuing 133 hostages.
Furthermore, in operations targeting oil theft, 36 suspects were apprehended, and stolen crude oil worth N637 million was recovered. Troops in the Niger Delta region thwarted oil theft attempts, dismantling 51 dugout pits, 24 boats, and 21 storage tanks, while also uncovering 21 illegal refining sites. Additionally, they seized substantial quantities of stolen crude oil and illegally refined AGO.
The statement highlighted the recovery of 270 weapons and 5,083 ammunition, including various rifles, pistols, grenades, and explosives. These seizures further enhance the military’s capacity to counter criminal activities.
Notably, between January and March 2024, the troops recorded significant achievements, including the elimination of 2,351 terrorists, the arrest of 2,308 suspects, the rescue of 1,241 hostages, and the recovery of stolen crude oil worth N20 billion.
