Hong Kong building on Fire. Shortly before 8 a.m., Hong Kong police received multiple reports of a fire at New Lucky House, situated at the junction of Jordan Road and Nathan Road.
At 8:04 a.m., the Fire Services Department escalated the fire to a level three incident.
Approximately 250 residents were rescued from New Lucky House in the Jordan neighborhood of Hong Kong, and the fire was successfully extinguished.
According to the Fire Services Department, the fire originated on the first and second floors of the 16-story building, where a gym and licensed guest rooms were situated.
Hong Kong’s Chief Executive, John Lee, extended his condolences to the families of the victims in a statement, and instructed relevant departments to offer assistance to all those affected by the fire.
Among the five individuals pronounced dead at the hospital, three were discovered in the building’s second-floor corridor, one was found in the stairwell between the seventh and eighth floors, and one is believed to have fallen from a height.
