The Kaduna State Police Command has reported the arrest of seven suspected cultists and the recovery of firearms in the state.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Kaduna, the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, announced the arrest, describing it as a significant blow to criminal networks in the state. He emphasized the command’s ongoing efforts in pursuing justice and ensuring the safety of all citizens.
Hassan stated, “In yet another notable achievement, the command has apprehended seven suspected cultists, confiscated illegal firearms, and retrieved a suspicious substance believed to be blood.”
He explained that the operation, conducted on April 6, was initiated based on intelligence provided by a reliable source. Police operatives swiftly responded to reports of unusual activities in the rocky and mountainous region of Dumbi along the Kaduna-Zaria expressway, leading to the arrest of seven suspects. Other suspects managed to flee the scene.
Items seized from the suspects included two pistols, a 30-litre jerrycan containing liquid suspected to be blood, and a Lexus car.
The Commissioner of Police, Ali Audu, commended the cooperation and vigilance of the community in providing vital information that facilitated the successful operation. Hassan reiterated the command’s dedication to eradicating criminal elements and ensuring the safety of residents in the state.
Efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects who fled, and the command urges anyone with relevant information to assist in bringing them to justice
