On Monday, the Edo State House of Assembly carried out the impeachment of Deputy Governor Comrade Philip Shaibu.
The session, commencing at 9:41 am, witnessed a voting process leading to the deputy governor’s impeachment. Among the 20 members present, 18 voted in favor of the impeachment, while one member dissented, solidifying the decision to remove Shaibu from office.
The impeachment was based on the findings of a seven-man panel chaired by Justice Stephen Omonua (Rtd), appointed by the Chief Judge (CJ) of the state, Justice Daniel Okungbowa. The panel concluded that Shaibu was guilty of the offense of disclosing official secrets.
