Reports indicate that the collision also involved three bystanders who were waiting to board buses at the renowned Aroma crossroads. Nwosu is a prominent figure in Awka, the capital of Anambra State, where he often roams in vans equipped with loudspeakers, blaring music.
Frequently, he parks his vehicle on the roadside, blasts music, and dances to the beats. The accident occurred as he was heading towards the Government House from Aroma, resulting in a collision with passengers awaiting buses at the crossroads.
An eyewitness attributed the incident to brake failure, and those affected, including a tricycle rider, were swiftly taken to the hospital. Upon our correspondent’s arrival at the accident site, authorities from the Awka Capital Territory Development Agency (ACTDA) were observed dismantling part of the vehicle’s music equipment to prevent further damage.
Although onlookers at the scene declined to speak with journalists, an ACTDA official, while acknowledging the situation, expressed inability to provide detailed insights into the cause of the disaster.
“We just arrived. We were at the office when we received the urgent call regarding this incident. I cannot offer a comprehensive explanation of what transpired. What we do know is that Aiza is alive and has been transported to the hospital for treatment,” he stated.
The road was strewn with shattered windshields from Nwosu’s vehicle, and as of the time of this report, officials were coordinating efforts to tow the wrecked vehicle to their office.
